چکیده

Background: Floating knee injuries are complex that generally caused by a high-energy trauma such as motorcycle or car accident. Local to the musculoskeletal and soft tissues is often extensive life-threatening; associated may also be present, producing challenging problem manage. In this study, we presented outcome of these after surgical management.Patients Methods: prospective 30 patients with floating were managed over 1-year period; both fractures injury fixed surgically different modalities. Fractures classified according modified Fraser classification, was evaluated Karlstrom criteria. Results: The main mode accident (70%). complications in 4 (13%) patients. According criteria, end results follows: Excellent − 8 (26.6%), good 17 (20.6%), acceptable 2 (23.6%), poor (11.8%).Conclusion: Surgical fixation an effective treatment for worldwide. On long-term follow-up treated surgically, functional radiological outcomes few rate.

Retrograde versus antegrade intramedullary nailing of gunshot diaphyseal femur fractures.

BACKGROUND The use of retrograde nailing for gunshot wound femur fractures is controversial due to concerns of knee sepsis after this procedure since the knee is entered to introduce the nail into the canal. QUESTIONS/PURPOSES We compared retrograde and antegrade nailing for gunshot femur fractures to determine whether (1) knee sepsis or other adverse events were more likely to complicate pro...

Assessment of the treatment outcome of closed extra-articular distal tibia fracture: IM nailing vs plating

Abstract   Background: The tibial diaphyseal fractures are the most common type of long   bone fractures encountered by most orthopedic surgeons. In accordance with descriptive indices of tibia fractures on the basis of their location in the bone, distal tibia   fractures have the second incidence of all tibia fractures after the middle tibia fractures.   The purpose of the study was to asses...

Antegrade or retrograde reamed femoral nailing

Retrograde femoral nailing is gaining in popularity. We report a prospective, randomised comparison of antegrade and retrograde procedures in 68 patients with 69 fractures of the femoral shaft. All nails were inserted after appropriate reaming. There was no difference in operating time, blood loss, technical complications, size of nail or reamer, or transfusion requirements. There were more pro...

Retrograde nailing for distal femur fractures in the elderly

INTRODUCTION We report the results of treating a series of 56 fractures in 54 elderly patients with a distal femur fracture with a retrograde femoral nail. METHODS Fifty-four of the nails were inserted percutaneously with a closed reduction. After surgery all patients were allowed to weight bear as tolerated. Four fractures were supported in a temporary external splint. RESULTS The mean age...

Retrograde Intramedullary Nailing for Distal Femur Fracture with Osteoporosis

BACKGROUND The incidence of distal femur fracture in the elderly has been increasing recently, and commonly occurs with osteoporosis. Retrograde intramedullary nailing has been considered a good surgical option for distal femur fracture. The purpose of the present study was to present our surgical results with retrograde intramedullary nailing for distal femur fractures with osteoporosis. MET...
